The short version
Ovvies isn't open for orders yet. Right now the public site asks for one thing: your email address, if you want us to tell you when we open. We use it to email you about Ovvies and to show you Ovvies ads, and you can unsubscribe from any email or withdraw from the ads at any time. Before ordering opens we'll update this page to cover what you'll give us then, including your photograph.
1. Who we are
Ovvies. Questions about your information: hello@ovvies.com.
2. What we collect, and why
When you sign up to hear when we open. You can sign up on this site, or through a form in one of our ads on a social platform. We collect:
- your email address, so we can email you when Ovvies opens, and now and then after that;
- your email address, for ads too: signing up includes agreeing that we use it to show you Ovvies ads on social and search platforms (see §4). You can withdraw that at any time;
- a record of your sign-up: when you signed up, the wording you saw, where you signed up, and any campaign tag in its address. We keep it as evidence that you asked to hear from us;
- if you sign up on this site, the internet address (IP address) your request came from. We record it with your sign-up for our security: to check that sign-ups are genuine and to protect against abuse. Sign-ups through a form in an ad don't pass it to us.
When you visit the site: we may use analytics tools, which may set cookies in your browser, to collect basic information about your visit, such as the pages you view, your browser and device type, and roughly where you are. We use it to understand how the site is used.
When you write to us: your message and your email address, so we can reply.
If you use a tester link to try ordering before we open: you give us more than this. §9 says what, and why.
On the public site we don't ask for anything else, and we don't need your name to sign you up.
3. Who else handles it
We use a small number of service providers. They act on our instructions, only for the purposes on this page.
| What they do for us | What they handle | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Website hosting | Your visit to the site | United States and elsewhere |
| Our sign-up service | Your sign-up record, including your IP address if you signed up on this site | United States |
| Email service provider | Your email address and sign-up record (without your IP address), to send our emails | United States and elsewhere |
| Our email inbox | Messages you send us | United States and elsewhere |
| Analytics | Information about your visit, when analytics is in use | United States and elsewhere |
| Social and search platforms we advertise on | Your email address in scrambled (hashed) form, so they can show you Ovvies ads; and, if you sign up through a form in one of our ads, your email address, which they pass to us | United States and elsewhere |
We describe our providers by what they do rather than by name. If you'd like to know who a provider is, email hello@ovvies.com and ask.
We don't sell your information.
4. Advertising
When you sign up, you agree that we may share your email address, in a scrambled (hashed) form, with the social and search platforms we advertise on, so they can show you Ovvies ads. Under some US state laws this counts as "sharing" for advertising. You can withdraw that at any time by emailing hello@ovvies.com.
5. How long we keep it
- Your email address stays on our mailing list until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove it.
- Our record of your sign-up, including your email address and the internet address it came from, is kept after that, as proof of what you agreed to.
6. Your choices
- Unsubscribe from any email, using the link in it.
- Ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, to correct your details on our mailing list, or to remove your email address from our mailing list. The record of your sign-up itself is kept unchanged, as evidence.
- Withdraw the advertising permission at any time (§4).
Email hello@ovvies.com. We'll reply within 30 days.
7. Children
This site is meant for adults. We don't knowingly collect information from children.
8. Changes
When we change this page, we update the date at the top. Before ordering opens we will update it to cover photographs, orders and payment.
9. If you try ordering with a tester link
Before we open, some people can try ordering through a tester link. If you use one, this section covers what you give us. The rest of this page applies too.
What you give us, and why. To run your test order from start to finish, you give us:
- your photo, and the words you type for the base;
- at checkout, your name, email address, delivery address and phone number;
- test card details (not your own card), which you enter on our payment processor's page.
Ordering runs in our payment processor's test mode. No card is charged and no money moves. Our payment processor sends us a record of your test payment, which usually includes the details you gave it, and we keep that record.
Your test order. It runs through our system like a real one, and we prepare the maker's files automatically. Nothing goes to the maker unless we decide to send it. If we do, the maker gets your name, your delivery address and the files made from your photo.
Your photo. Software outlines who or what is in your photo so we can cut the glass to that shape. It doesn't detect or record faces.
Who else handles it, by what they do: website hosting; app hosting and our database; file storage; virus scanning (every photo you upload is scanned first); image processing; payment processing (your email address, your order number, and the device information its payment page collects for its own fraud checks); our email inbox; our email service provider, if it sends you your tester link; and the maker, only if we send your order to them. They act on our instructions.
Your browser. A tester link sets one cookie that lets you into the site for 14 days. It holds only an expiry time and a signature, nothing about you. The site also keeps your cart number for the visit and one small display preference in your browser. We don't keep your internet address with your order. While you design, we keep a scrambled form of it for up to 24 hours to stop abuse, then delete it. Our hosting providers' logs record it, as they do for any website.
How long we keep it. Your photo and order details are kept with your test order, and we haven't set an end date. Your photo is kept from the moment you start checkout, even if you don't finish.
To have it deleted: email hello@ovvies.com and we'll delete what we hold.
